I talk to John Shook about Atheism, Theism, Naturalism and Philosophy of Science in the podcast below.

Dr. John Shook (PhD, Philosophy) is Director of Education and Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Inquiry Transnational in Amherst, N.Y., and Research Associate in Philosophy at the University at Buffalo, since 2006. He has authored and edited more than a dozen books about naturalism, pragmatism, and humanism. He travels for lectures and debates across the United States and around the world.

In the podcast below, I talk to Andy Thomson, a Psychiatrist, Trustee of The Richard Dawkins Foundation and Author of Why We believe in Gods: A Concise Guide to the Science of Faith about a comprehensive Cognitive Neuroscience that explains why human beings, as complex psychological creatures, believe in the conceptual agency of God and why they establish and partake in religious institutions as part of their social interactions.

In the late summer of 2013 I did an interview and discussion with the renowned Experimental Physicist Victor J Stenger, Author of the New York Times Best Seller “God: The Failed Hypothesis” as part of my Biggest Questions Podcast Series. The question in hand was “why does anything exist at all”. Unsurprisingly that discussion was rather fascinating and when you have discussed what is possibly the most philosophically loaded question i.e. “why does anything exist at all” with an Experimental Physicist who is also a prominent Atheist then you simply wind down, mentally, with discussing Atheism in a social and intellectual context. And you will find that discussion in the player below.

Below is an excellent talk given by the Scientist PZ Myers on how Science, by philosophical definition, is incompatible with Religion

Below is a fascinating discussion on Atheism and the public reaction to the Atheist books published by the “four horseman” of Atheism, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and the late great Christopher Hitchens.

Below is the third and final part of a brilliant three part documentary series presented by Sir Jonathan Miller on the entire history of Atheistic thought dating back to classical antiquity.

Below is one of the most eye opening and controversial films ever made about the Christian Religion. Ian Flemming’s The God who wasn’t there explores how the historical Jesus never actually existed and was only expressed by his contemporaries as a mythological figure; and then later rewritten back into history by the early Roman church.

Below is an excellent talk given by the distinguished philosopher and Atheist Daniel Dennett about The Secret Clergy Project he founded to investigate the extent to which Clergy members themselves do not actually believe in God. Humorously, yet very seriously, part of the questionnaire given to Clergy members determines the extent to which they hold Atheistic views.

Below is an excellent documentary about the latest cutting edge research from psychology and neuroscience on how the human species seeks out agency and invisible forces as part of their explanatory schema for how the world operates; suggesting that we are cognitively and biologically predisposed to believe in the supernatural even though it cannot be observed and it doesn’t exist.

Below is an excellent discussion between renowned scientists and acclaimed Atheists, Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss on the concept of Nothing.

Below is an very interesting and unique talk given by renowned scientist and acclaimed Atheists, Lawrence Krauss on the concept of Nothing based on his book, A Universe from Nothing

Below is a very interesting lecture by Robert M Price on the Mythology of Jesus and its thematic resemblance with preceding pagan deities.
